My goal in offering free phone or video consultations is to provide a low-pressure opportunity to see if we might be a good fit. A good match can help individuals better connect with, remain in, and benefit the most from, therapy.

During consultations, there is time for individuals to share parts of their unique story and discuss what challenges they want to address. Likewise, there is opportunity for me to share with individuals my therapeutic approach, and how I might be able to support them based on what they shared with me. In other words, it’s a great way for individuals to get a sense of what therapy might look like with me.

Individual counseling is a relational process that aims is to relieve psychological distress, bring deeper personal insight and awareness, enhance relationship functioning, and improve overall quality of life. In individual therapy, the focus is on the development of a one-to-one relationship with the therapist, to help facilitate an environment that is based on stability, trust, safety, and non-judgement. Sessions can involve discussing and expressing upsetting thoughts and feelings, changing unhelpful attitudes, behaviours and habits, and/or developing more constructive and adaptive ways of coping with life stressors.

Individual counselling can be short-term for immediate issues or long-term for longstanding complex challenges.

Acting as a supportive cheerleader and friendly guide, my focus is to help clients untangle the chaos in their lives and offer concrete knowledge and tools to better manage their everyday stressors. By helping clients to make peace with what’s keeping them stuck in a cycle of inner turmoil, my hope is for them to live a calmer, more meaningful life.
